Swimming is a vital life skill. Understanding water safety and how to swim minimizes the risk of drowning while building self-reliance. The Y’s skilled and patient swim instructors offer lessons for all ages and abilities.
Swimming is a vital skill that makes life safer and more fun. Swim School at Somerset Hills YMCA offers you the convenience of pre-enrolling your child in swim lessons for the entire school year.
Classes run from the fall (September 10, 2018) through the spring (June 9, 2019), with no classes November 19-24, December 24 - January 1, and Spring Break week, TBD. Register by August 1. WHAT CAN YOU EXPECT?
*30 minute class once a week
*Classes are offered Mon-Fri, 10:00am-2:30pm
*Same instructor which helps to build trust and comfort for your child
*Your child will benefit from having continuous learning.
*Easy one-time enrollment (no need to re-enroll each session)
*Choice of a private, semi-private, or group classes
*Smaller group classes of 3 allow for greater instruction time and attention.
*Parents have the convenience of making a one-time payment or paying in monthly installments.
Group Lesson: $700 per child
Semi-private lesson: $925 per child
Private Lesson: $1,375 per child

Swim School Information
The F.A.S.T. (Fitness and Stroke Technique) Swim Clinic is a 2-day/week swim practice, for kids age 7 years through 10 years, focused on conditioning and stroke mechanics and stroke refinement. A swim evaluation is required. Must be a YMCA member.
Participants should be able to swim the four competitive strokes (freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, and butterfly) with little correction and should also be comfortable swimming multiple laps over a period of time while taking direction.
Classes are 60 minutes long.
*Additional F.A.S.T. Clinics are offered for children ages 11-14 under Teen Swim Classes & Programs.

AFYAP is a class consisting of a series of gentle activities in the pool open to anyone with arthritis or similar rheumatic diseases. W.E.T. is gentle aerobics, flexibility and light strength training in a warm, therapeutic pool. It is not necessary to know how to swim for either class. Free to members and a fee for non-members. Pre-registration is necessary. Please register at the Welcome Center.

Water exercise is great for adults of all ages and abilities looking for fun and fitness in a low impact environment. Classes are offered in the daytime and on some evenings as well as “on your own” opportunities to water walk and do your own workout routine.

This class is designed to mirror a typical Preschool Stage 1 or Stage 2 YMCA swim class, with the ultimate goal of moving participants to a traditional swim class. 1:3 ratio.
Classes are 30 minutes long.
