Somerset County YMCA Summer Day Camps 2019

Somerset County YMCA offers 100+ camp options for children entering Pre-K through 10th grade at four locations: Bridgewater YMCA, Hillsborough YMCA, Somerset Hills YMCA and Somerville YMCA

YMCA camp is the perfect place for your children to spend their summer away from school. We offer campers an exciting 10-week program that runs from Monday, June 24 through Friday, August 30. Campers may sign up for as few as one week or all ten weeks for the best summer ever. They'll stay active and busy in our sports, arts, STEM and traditional camps.

At Y camp, children can explore new interests and pursue their passions in a safe, nurturing environment. Your child will make lasting friendships and have fun discovering who they are and what they can do.

American Camp Association Accredited

Our camps are state-licensed and ACA-accredited, which means they meet more than 300 healthy, safety and program quality standards. All summer camp locations have swimming pools, so children can enjoy aquatics activities. Children are supervised by qualified, experienced and caring counselors and program directors. All camps offer extended hours options to provide families with flexibility and convenience.

Go for Green Swim Program

As a national leader in water safety and swim lessons, the Y developed the Go for Green Swim Program, which focuses on improving the swim abilities of children who participate in YMCA Summer Camp programs. Go for Green keeps children safe by helping them gain confidence in and around water. As part of the program, campers are swim tested on their first visit to the pool, and identified with one of three color wrist bands:

Red wrist band - non-swimmers who always wear a personal floatation device (life jacket) and may only swim in the shallow end of the pool

Yellow wrist band – between non-swimmer and swimmer who may swim in the shallow end of the pool and may or may not swim with a personal flotation device

Green wrist band – swimmer who is able to swim one lap above water and tread water for one minute, and may swim in any depth of water

Of the children who participated in the swim program throughout Somerset County YMCA’s camps, 115 increased their proficiency by one level and 40 improved by two levels in our Go for Green Swim Program.
