Summer Camp

YMCA camp is the perfect place for your children to spend their summer away from school. They'll stay active and busy in our sports, arts, science and nature, and traditional camps. At Y camp, children can pursue their potential and explore new interests in a safe, nurturing environment. Your child will make lasting friendships and have fun discovering who they are and what they can do.

American Camp Association Accredited

We offer camps at Bridgewater YMCA, Hillsborough YMCA, Somerset Hills YMCA and Somerville YMCA. All facilities have swimming pools, so children can enjoy aquatics activities. Our camps are state-licensed and ACA-certified, which means they meet more than 300 healthy, safety and program quality standards. Children are supervised by qualified, experienced and caring counselors and program director.

At Y camp, your child will have the best summer ever!  See more information about each camp below.

Go for Green Swim Program

As a national leader in water safety and swim lessons, the Y developed the Go for Green Swim Program, which focuses on improving the swim abilities of children who participate in YMCA Summer Camp programs. Go for Green keeps children safe by helping them gain confidence in and around water. As part of the program, campers are swim tested on their first visit to the pool, and identified with one of three color wrist bands:

Red wrist band - non-swimmers who always wear a personal floatation device (life jacket) and may only swim in the shallow end of the pool

Yellow wrist band – between non-swimmer and swimmer who may swim in the shallow end of the pool and may or may not swim with a personal flotation device

Green wrist band – swimmer who is able to swim one lap above water and tread water for one minute, and may swim in any depth of water

Of the children who participated in the swim program throughout Somerset County YMCA’s camps, 115 increased their proficiency by one level and 40 improved by two levels in our Go for Green Swim Program.

As part of the online registration process, a $50 deposit is due per child, per camp in order to complete your registration. The deposit is fully refundable prior to May 1, and partially thereafter, should you need to make any changes to your camp selections.
