Sports Programs, Clinics & Leagues for Kids

Our YMCA Sports Program helps kids of all ages and abilities be physically active while learning how to play and enjoy sports in a non-competitive, non-threatening environment. Fair play, sportsmanship, teamwork, and Y values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility are woven into all of our kids sports classes. With everything from basketball to baseball to pickleball to golf, we make physical activity fun which helps us address a key issue -- childhood obesity -- in a meaningful way.

Basketball

Basketball (Ages 4 years to 12 years)
  • Basketball 1 (Ages 4 years to 5 years)

    Start the little ones early. Smaller basketballs and hoops, but the same skills, make this class perfect for younger children. Shooting, passing and dribbling are the focus in many fun and run games to keep them engaged in learning the sports invented by the YMCA!

    Classes are 30 minutes long.

  • Basketball 2 (Ages 6 years to 7 years)

    Introduces children to the basketball fundamentals including shooting, passing and dribbling, while building positive development and confidence.

    Classes are 45 minutes long.

  • Basketball 3 (Ages 8 years to 9 years)

    Continues the development of basketball skills by teaching new abilities through drills. Game play will be introduced.

    Classes are 45 minutes long.

  • Basketball 4 (Ages 10 years to 12 years)

    A program focused on game play, kids will develop skills and knowledge of the game through modified and full court action.

    Classes are 45 minutes long.

Open Gym (All ages)

In addition to physical benefits, exercise helps kids to be more alert by improving cognitive abilities. Our Open Gym time allows kids to stay active, improve focus, and have fun with family.

Intro to Martial Arts (Ages 5 years to 10 years)
Check back fall 2017 for exciting new classes.
Recess Games (Ages 4 years to 12 years)
  • Recess Games (Ages 4 years to 5 years)

    Join us weekly for games of capture the flag, dodgeball, and many more recess style games. Kids will have fun while getting physical activity.

    Classes are 30 minutes long.

  • Recess Games (Ages 6 years to 7 years)

    Join us weekly for games of capture the flag, dodgeball, and many more recess style games. Kids will have fun while getting physical activity.

    Classes are 45 minutes long.

  • Recess Games (Ages 8 years to 9 years)

    Join us weekly for games of capture the flag, dodgeball, and many more recess style games. Kids will have fun while getting physical activity.

    Classes are 60 minutes long.

  • Recess Games (Ages 10 years to 12 years)

    Join us weekly for games of capture the flag, dodgeball, and many more recess style games. Kids will have fun while getting physical activity.

    Classes are 60 minutes long.

Soccer (Ages 3 1/2 years to 9 years)
  • Soccer 1 (Ages 3 1/2 to 5 years)

    Introduces children to basic soccer skills. Dribbling, passing, shooting and field position are taught in a positive, nurturing environment. Classes are 30 minutes long.

  • Soccer 2 (Ages 6 years to 7 years)

    Focuses on improving the necessary skills to start game action. The class introduces teamwork drills and sportsmanship. Classes are 45 minutes long.

T Ball (Ages 3 1/2 years to 5 years)
  • T-Ball (Ages 3 1/2 years to 5 years)

    Teaches the basics of hitting, throwing and catching, as well as the basic fundamentals of the sport.

    Classes are 30 minutes long.

Y Sports (Ages 3 1/2 years to 5 years)
  • Y Sports (Ages 3 years to 5 years)

    Introduces children to a variety of sports while they improve motor skills, stay active and have fun. Classes are 30 minutes long.

Youth Triathlon Training (Ages 7 years to 13 years)
Multisport training isn't just for adults. Kids and teens ages 7-13 are invited to train in swimming, biking and running to improve their overall fitness, strength and endurance. Classes will be forming this summer.

Basketball (Ages 3 years to 10 years)

Playing basketball helps kids to build muscle and endurance while improving balance, coordination and self-discipline. It’s also a great way to learn about teamwork and sportsmanship...plus, have fun with friends.

  • Basketball 1 (Ages 5 years to 7 years)

    Introduces children to the basketball fundamentals including shooting, passing and dribbling, while building positive development and confidence. 

    Classes are 45 minutes hour long.

  • Basketball 2 (Ages 8 years to 10 years)

    Continues the development of new basketball skills by teaching new abilities through drills. Game play will be introduced during the session. 

    Classes are 45 minutes long.

  • Advanced Basketball (Ages 10 years to 12 years)
    Introduces advanced basketball skill development in the first four weeks, followed by a 6-game season and a mini-post season to get players used to league play. Team shirts will be provided before the first game.

    Classes are 60 minutes long.

Climbing Wall (All ages)

Rock climbing has tremendous benefits for kids. Physically, they build strength and improve body awareness. Intellectually, they exercise creative thinking and problem solving skills as they learn to focus, concentrate and persevere. And emotionally, they gain a sense of responsibility and achievement.

  • Friday Night Climb (All ages)
    The climbing wall is open to all members on a drop-in basis on Fridays from 6:30pm - 8:30pm. If you are a first-time climber, our knowledgeable staff will "show you the ropes"!

    Open Climb is 2 hours long.

Open Gym (All ages)

Basketball (Ages 4 years to 18 years)

Come join one of our basketball skills programs. Have fun as we focus on improving basketball skills and building self esteem.

  • Drop in Youth Basketball Clinics

    Participants can expect to run drills that will improve their speed and agility.

    Players will be split into two groups for intermediate, recreation, school level players and travel, AAU, high school level players.

Open Gym (All ages)

In addition to physical benefits, exercise helps kids to be more alert by improving cognitive abilities. Our Open Gym time allows kids to stay active, improve focus, and have fun with family.
