Fitness for Kids

At the Y, we offer youth exercise classes, personal training and nutrition for kids to help children develop healthy habits that will last them a lifetime. Our variety of fitness and wellness programs for kids help them to feel comfortable, happy and empowered as they learn more about their skills and abilities.

Youth Wellness Orientation (Ages 11 years to 13 years)

For member between 11-13 years of age. This 30-minute orientation gives younger members the opportunity to learn safe and effective exercise principles through supervised practice on cardio and strength machines. After completing the session, participants are awarded a badge to be worn in the Wellness Center, which indicates they are allowed to exercise independently.

  • Youth Boot Camp (Ages 7 years to 12 years)

    Warm-up with cardio, then alternate between stations to improve endurance and strength, all while having fun.  Classes are 50 minutes long. Free to all members. Registration required.

  • Youth Running Club (Ages 7 years to 13 years)
    The purpose of the Youth Running Club is to foster a love of running among kids. The curriculum will introduce the components of running, training and racing. It will explore running as a sport, similar to youth football, baseball and soccer leagues.

    Classes are 50 minutes long.

  • Youth Zumba (Ages 7 years to 12 years)

    Come dance to rockin', high-energy, choreographed Latin and international music routines in a kid‑friendly dance fitness class!

    Classes are 50 minutes long. Free to all members. Registration required.

  • Youth Yoga (Ages 7 years to 12 years)
    Kids Yoga is a fun way to develop balance, strength, and flexibility for body and mind. Children's concentration, self esteem and confidence will improve while feeling a sense of community by using a dynamic sequence of Yoga and playing games.

    Classes are 50 minutes long.

Personal Training (Ages 10 years and above)

Exercise is not one-size-fits-all. What works for one person may not work for another. That’s why we offer personal training. Let our certified personal trainers help you achieve your fitness goals through a program customized for you. They’ll encourage and motivate you as you make steady progress.

Membership is required.

  • One-on-One Personal Training (Ages 10 years and above)

    Get the results you want and improve your health with one-on-one guidance from our certified Personal Trainers. Trainers will design a program tailored to your interests and level of ability to help reach personal fitness goals. For Y members. Schedule sessions and receive a free fitness assessment.

  • Pairs Personal Training (Ages 10 years and above)

    Start on the path to a healthier you. A certified Personal Trainer will help you and a partner to optimize your fitness at an affordable price. For Y members.

    Sessions are 60 minutes
    1 Session - $80 per session ($40 each person)
    5 Sessions - $380 ($190 each person)
    10 Sessions - $720 ($360 each person)

  • Small Group Training (Ages 13 years and above)

    Train with friends and receive the benefits of personalized fitness in a small group at an affordable price. For Y members.

    Sessions are 60 minutes
    1 per week $80/month (each person)
    2 per week $160/month (each person)

    Join us monthly for nutrition seminars led by Samantha Nuzio, registered dietitian from the Hillsborough ShopRite. Fitness Assessment (Ages 11 years and above)

One of our trained Wellness staff members will lead your child through a fitness assessment to evaluate the child’s current fitness level. Testing includes cardiovascular, strength, and flexibility metrics and can be used as a starting point on your child’s wellness journey. There is a $25 assessment fee.

Family B. Fit Beginner Fitness Program (Ages 11 years and above)
Families can improve their physical and mental well-being utilizing our 8-week Beginner Fitness program at the Y. Wellness Coaches will track progress and write down goals. Suggestions will be given to the family to make healthier decisions both at home and at the Y.

Nutrition for Kids

It’s never too early to start eating healthy! Our nutritionist will review your child’s personal nutrition and wellness goals (weight loss, weight gain, weight maintenance, food allergies/avoidance, etc.) and help put them on the path to a healthy lifestyle. We’ll conduct a comprehensive nutritional assessment of current eating habits and suggest an individualized food plan, as well as provide useful behavioral strategies that include smart snacking, portion control, and more. Written dietary guidelines, as well as other nutritional materials and handouts will help track progress. For members only.

Kids Yoga (Ages 5 years to 11 years)

Empower your child, age 5 years to 11 years, to keep the pressure of life from homework, endless school activities, and competition at bay by letting them experience yoga. This practice shows how to relax and revitalize spirit, mind, and body. It helps develop enhanced body awareness, self-control, flexibility and coordination and these skills can be carried beyond the yoga class into daily routines. Kids should bring their own yoga mat.

  • Youth Conditioning Boxing (Ages 7 years to 12 years)

    Get a challenging cardiovascular and full body workout required as you kick, punch, block and move. Classes are 45 minutes long. Free to all members.

  • Youth Self Defense (Ages 7 years to 12 years)
    Get a challenging cardio workout while learning the basics of self defense. Classes are 30 minutes long. Free to all members.
