Swim Lessons for Adults

Swimming is a vital life skill. Understanding water safety and how to swim minimizes the risk of drowning while building self-reliance. The Y’s skilled and patient swim instructors offer lessons for all ages and abilities

Teen/Adult Swim Lessons (Ages 14 years and above)
  • Beginner Swim Lessons (Ages 14 years to above)

    No prerequisite skills. For the beginner swimmer who may not be able to float independently, finds blowing bubbles a challenge and is fearful in deep water.

    Classes are 45 minutes long.

  • Intermediate Swim Lessons (Ages 14 years and above)

    Swimmers will learn to develop skills to make freestyle a more restful and relaxing stroke. Drills to work on rotary breathing, flutter kick, elementary backstroke and backstroke are incorporated.

    Classes are 45 minutes long.

    Participant can comfortably swim 25 yards of rudimentary freestyle and backstroke.

    Swimmers will learn to develop skills to make freestyle a more restful and relaxing stroke.

  • Advanced Swim Lessons (Ages 14 years and above)

    Refines skills learned in Adult Intermediate. Participant comfortably swims freestyle, backstroke, and elementary backstroke but needs correction.

    Classes are 45 minutes long.

Masters Swim Program (Ages 18 years and above)
Our U.S. Masters Swimming program appropriately challenges beginner to competitive swimmers by improving stroke technique. Whether you are a traditional competitive master’s swimmer, an open water swimmer, a triathlete, or you just want to swim for fun, this program is for you! Not only is swimming a life skill, but this program will help you develop a healthier lifestyle through swimming, build friendships through our members, and grow by meeting your personal fitness goals.
