Swim Lessons for Adults

Swimming is a vital life skill. Understanding water safety and how to swim minimizes the risk of drowning while building self-reliance. The Y’s skilled and patient swim instructors offer lessons for all ages and abilities

Teen/Adult Beginner Swim Lessons (Ages 14 years and above)
  • Beginner Swim Lessons (Ages 14 years to above)

    No prerequisite skills. For the beginner swimmer who may not be able to float independently, finds blowing bubbles a challenge and is fearful in deep water.

    Classes are 45 minutes long.

Teen/Adult Intermediate Swim Lessons (Ages 14 year and above)
  • Intermediate Swim Lessons (Ages 14 years and above)

    Swimmers will learn to develop skills to make freestyle a more restful and relaxing stroke. Drills to work on rotary breathing, flutter kick, elementary backstroke and backstroke are incorporated.

    Classes are 45 minutes long.

Endurance Swim (Ages 18 years and above)

Designed to help you become a better swimmer all around. The coach will focus on stroke refinement, endurance, and helping you achieve your swimming goals - perfect for swimmers interested in triathlon training.

Classes are 60 minutes long.

Masters Swim Program (Ages 18 years and above)
  • Coached Adult Master Swim Workouts (Ages 18 years and above)

    Beginner to competitive swimmers will enjoy an appropriately challenging workout and stroke technique critique as part of the U.S. MASTERS SWIMMING program. Whether you are a traditional competitive master’s swimmer, an open water swimmer, a triathlete, or you just want to swim for fun, this program is for you! The workouts will be coached by Dave Lockhart and Adele Morgan, both certified Level 2 U.S. Masters Swimming coaches.

    WHEN: Starting November 2, 2015
    Monday, Wednesdays and Fridays
    TIME: M/W - 5:15 am - 6:15 am
    M/W/F - 6:30 am - 7:30 am
    M - 8:30 pm - 9:30 pm
    W - 8:00 pm - 9:00 pm
    WHO: Adults 18 and above
    LOCATION:    Hillsborough YMCA

    Improve your strokes. These are coached adult master swim workouts. All participants are expected to be able to swim freestyle (50 to 100 yards) comfortably. New to structured swimming workouts? Come and learn structured swimming. The workouts will be coached by Ed Tsuzuki, certified Level 2 U.S. Masters Swimming Coach.
