Tae Kwon Do/Korean Karate (Ages 4 and above)

Come enjoy “Family Exercise with a Purpose." Somerset Hills YMCA partners with the American Tae Kwon Do Academy (ATKDA) to offer classes in self-defense that foster goal setting, teamwork and caring for others. Please email for more information.

"Tot" Kwon Do (Ages 4 years to 6 years)

This non-contact method of Korean Karate is fun, safe and effective.

Miranda Coppola, 3rd Degree Black Belt and certified preschool teacher, works with kids (ages 4 years to 6 years) to further their hand-eye coordination, attention span and motor skills. The class emphasizes basic memorization of physical movements and teaches non-violent behavior. Kids receive positive reinforcement and progress through the various “stripes” of white belt.

In this class you can progress from white belt to black belt in a family environment.

Aikido (Ages 13 years and above)
  • Aikido (Ages 13 years and above)

    This form of martial arts teaches techniques that help you to better control and redirect physical confrontation rather than blocking it. Increases stamina, flexibility and muscle development.

    Classes are 1 hour 25 minutes long.

Tae Kwon Do (Ages 15 years and above)
  • Adult Tae Kwon Do
    A Korean martial art that combines combat techniques, self-defense, sport, exercise, and in some cases, meditation and philosophy.

    Classes are 60 minutes long.
